Bruno Marelli

- 1st January-June 1976:

Professor Marelli was accepted at “The Orthopedic Institute, Gaetano Pini, Milan, Italy his obligatory internship practice in “Specialization – Orthopedics and Traumatology”.

- Accademic year 1976-1977:

At “The Institute of Normal Human Anatomy”, Professor Marelli was a University Professor teaching in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan, Italy, continuatively for two years.

- 18th July 1977:

Professor Marelli was assigned to “out-patient” and “emergency room” duties at the Orthopedic Hospital, Gaetano Pini, Milan, with the disposition as “Health Director” and the privilege of “Assistant Doctor” for a period of two months.

- 1st June -15th December 1978:

Professor Marelli, with the agreements between Hospital Gaetano Pini, Milan, Italy and Hospital Fatebenefratelli, Erba, Italy, was assigned as “Director of Health”. In this period, he was able to increase his knowledge both in the area of “road traumatology” and in his “operative skills”, taking Advantage of his close collaboration with the Chief General Surgeon.

- 10th July 1979:

Professor Marelli received his University Degree with Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology from the University of Milan, Italy.

- 24th April 1979:

Assigned to “The Division of Infant Orthopedics” at The Orthopedic Institute Geatano Pini, Milan, Italy until July 1979.

- 9th July 1980:

Professor Marelli was nominated “Assistant of Orthopedics and Traumatology” at Gaetano Pini Orthopedic Institute, Milan, Italy.

- 1980 -1981:

Professor Marelli was accepted at The School of Specialization in “Emergency Surgery and Emergency Room” at the “1 Surgical Clinic” at the University of Milan, Italy.

- 1th September 1980:

Professor Marelli was assigned to “The Center of Oncologic Orthopedic Surgery”, where he progressively learned and sharpened the particular techniques of diagnosis and therapy in “neo-plastic muscular-scheletric” pathology.

- 2nd July 1985:

Professor Marelli receives his Degree in “Specialization in Emergency Surgery and Emergency Room”. Such courses of study revealed themselves extremely useful deepening his knowledge in General Surgery. Since 1985, Professor Marelli has been an Orthopedic Consultant at “The National Institute for the Study and Cure of Tumors” in Milan, Italy, according to the agreements stipulated between the two Institutes.

- 1st August 1986:

Professor Marelli is nominated “Hospital Vice Director” at “The Orthopedic Institute” Gaetano Pini, Milan, Italy.

From the opening of The Center San Pio X in Milan for the Diagnosis and Cure of Tumors (1989), Professor Marelli was the “Specialist Consultant” in their Oncologic-Radiation Therapy Department.

- October/November 1989:

Professor Marelli was a guest at the Orthopedic Clinic of Hamburg, Germany, where he had the possibility of deepening his knowledge in the area of prosthetic-surgery of Hip and Knee. Here, he acquired the most modern orientation in the diagnosis and therapy involved in “septic complications” in articular-prosthetic surgery. In particular, at the center in Hamburg, Germany, it was possible to develop and study the use of modular prosthesis to revision built with the help of state-of-the-art computerized techniques (of that period).

-1991-1992:

Professor Marelli was nominated as University Contract Teaching Professor at the School Of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Milan, Italy. Becoming more and more interested in “Articular-Prosthetic Surgery”, in 1993 he returned to the Department of General Orthopedic Surgery at the “Orthopedic Institute, Gaetano Pini, Milan, Italy.

- February 1995:

Professor Marelli was a visiting Doctor at The University of Florida in Gainsville, Florida, USA, as an Associate in the Department of Orthopedics where he studied, and still today collaborates, in the constant technological progress regarding particular surgery and prosthetic-substitution of hip and knee.

-March 1998:

Professor Marelli attended The Institute for Bone & Joint Disorders under the direction of Dr. Anthony Hedley in Phoenix, Arizona, with sessions in hip and knee prosthesis surgery.

-1st June 1999:

Professor Marelli was nominated “Head of Internal Articulation of Modular Prosthesis” at The Orthopedic Institute, Gaetano Pini, Milan, Italy.

- January 2001:

Professor Marelli was authorized the use of CASPAR for robotized-implants in knee impants, having had successful training in such in Rastatt, Germany.

- June 2001:

He was elected “Full Member” of the European Hip Society.

- November 2002-May 2018:

Professor Marelli was nominated “Director and Chief of “The Second Division” at The Orthopedic Institute, Gaetano Pini, ,Milan ,Italy. Still today, he covers all of the load as Chief and Director of the Second Surgical Division of Orthopedic Traumatology – Operative Unit Complex Center of reference for Hip, Knee and Shoulder Surgery.

- 2005-2006:

Professor Marelli was nominated as University Teaching Professor for The Magistrale Degree Program in Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan, Italy, teaching Human Anatomy. The course title, “Functional and Clinical Anatomy of the Upper and Lower Extremities”.

- 2011- May 2018:

Professor Marelli was nominated Chief Director of the Department of General Ortho-Traumatology 21 April 2011 and in 2013 nominated Chief Director of The Specialistic Orthopedics Surgeries Department at the same Orthopedic Institute, Gaetano Pini, Milan, Italy.

- 2018-2020:

Professor Marelli is President of S.L.O.T.O. (Lombardy Region Society Orthopaedics and Traumatologists)
